Fred Halik passed away peacefully, after a tragic accident, at age 61 on October 22, 2018 in Rochester, New York. Fred was the loving husband of Cathy. He is survived by his two sons: Michael (Cari) and Brian; four grandchildren: Dillon, Serenity, Mackenzie, and Dean; three siblings: Steve (Mary), Kathy Volo (Carm), and his twin brother, David; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and his entire RTS Family.
Fred was a simple man who loved everyone and treated all equally. He was the greatest husband, father, brother, and friend that anyone could ask for. Fred had spent his entire life dedicating everything to his family. Nothing was more important than the well-being of his wife, children, siblings and grandchildren. This was a benevolent man who was proper in the way he spoke, avoided confrontation, and helped out neighbors in need. Love came naturally to him and he shared it with all. Most recently, he was an RTS bus driver for over 10 years, where his coworkers were like family. Customers from his route have continuously expressed their love and gratitude for him, as he always greeted them with a smile and treated them like friends. His compassion and devotion to his family was further demonstrated by his goal of retiring and moving to Colorado Springs with Cathy to be with their boys.
Fred was about celebrations for people and seeing the good side of everyone. Please join family and friends for this celebration of what Fred stood for in our lives and how he made an impact in what people did. The love he has shown flowed through many of us and made everyone better for having known him. This man with a heart of gold, the spirit of an angel, and the love of higher being does not go unnoticed. He will always be missed and never forgotten. We love you, Fred; may you rest in peace. Please watch over all of us and ensure safe passage in all that we do.
A Celebration of Life Service is being held for him on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Stevens-Connor Lehigh Valley Lodge located at 2612 Pinnacle Road, Rush, New York 14543. The Reflection of Life Ceremony will begin promptly at 1:30 PM, followed by a reception afterwards.
