Penfield, NY: April 25, 2019. Helen “Joan” Summers born 9/22/1927 passed away at Highland Hospital at age 91. She was born in Buffalo, NY to Fred and Helen Allein. Predeceased by husband Ernest W. Summers, Parents Fred and Helen Allein and siblings Fred Allein and Shirley Jahreis (Allein). Survived by her daughter Meredith Halter (Michael) and son John Summers; Grandchildren, Joshua Halter, Haley Halter, Brittney Summers, John W. Summers, Caroline Goldammer; Great-grandchildren Emma Goldammer and Teddy Walgren.
Joan enjoyed playing bridge, camping and reading.
A Memorial service will be held on May 17th, 2019 at 11am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 25 Westminster Rd, Rochester, NY 14607. A Celebration of Life will be held at Richardson’s Canal House 5/17/19 starting at 12:45 pm. located at 1474 Marsh Rd. Pittsford, NY 14534.
Donations in Joan’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, or the Highland Hospital Foundation.
