Rochester, NY – April 20, 2020 at age 85. Jean lived fully and courageously with pulmonary fibrosis for the last ten years of her life. She passed away peacefully in the presence of her children. Jean is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Donald) Muller and Judy (Rick) Fuller; one son, Edward Fuller; three grandchildren, Nicholas Muller, Chelsea Muller, and Joshua Fuller; four sisters, Joan Tourot, Suzanne (William) Wademan, Diane (Frederick) Chase, Dolores (Robert) Guernsey; sister-in-law Carol Dippold; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and a large circle of friends. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Richard (“Dick”) Fuller, her parents Henry and Clara Dippold, brother John (“Butch”) Dippold, sister and brother-in law Barbara and Donald Honis, sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Robert Carroll, and brother-in-law Charles Tourot.
Jean grew up in Mattydale, New York. She graduated from SUNY Oswego and took graduate courses at SUNY Brockport. Early in her career, she taught in Niagara Falls, New York; Flint, Michigan; and Karlsruhe, Germany. After settling in Rochester, she taught in multiple public and private schools. While she loved teaching, she chose to set her career aside for over a decade to raise her children.
Jean enjoyed sewing clothes, baking bread, doing puzzles, and knitting sweaters. She loved listening to music, especially music played by family members and friends. She was an avid exerciser, voracious reader, and intense fan of the Buffalo Bills, the New York Yankees, and Syracuse University teams. With family and friends, Jean went camping in New York State and traveled throughout North America, Europe, and the Middle East. She was a lifelong learner who remained active in many groups after her retirement. She will be remembered for her positive outlook, generous spirit, strength of will, and deep faith. A private graveside service will be held at White Haven Memorial Park. At a later date, we will gather to celebrate her life.
The family would like to thank Jean’s doctors and nurses at Highland Hospital and her caregivers from URMC Hospice for their dedication and expertise. Donations can be made to URMC Hospice at https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/home-care/hospice-care/donations.aspx or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
