Rochester, NY: After a long battle with cancer, Jeffrey Charles Close passed away on August 22, 2019 in Rochester, NY at the age of 40. He leaves behind his beloved wife Sharon Close of eight years and his cat Ami.
Jeff was born on December 5th, 1978 in Rochester, NY to father Roy Close and mother Dawn Close. He grew up in a loving family with two brothers Chris Close (wife Tina Close, daughter Jayden), and Aaron Close. Jeff will be missed dearly by his gramma, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.
Jeff graduated from Fredonia with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001. Jeff was a music and movie enthusiast who sang in a band to raise money for local charities. He was also so talented working with computers and new technologies that he was family and friends go to person for tech help.
Jeff was a driven professional that was always willing and able to help others. His witty humor and kind heart were amazing attributes of Jeff and will be missed dearly. When diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2017, he remained dedicated in his work and in his will to fight his illness. He remained brave, iron-willed, compassionate and thankful even throughout his final days.
Jeff requested a church service with friends and family in his honor. It will be held on Tuesday August 27th, at 11am at First Presbyterian Church of Chili 3600 Chili Ave, Rochester, NY 14624. The family would especially like to thank Jeff’s oncologist Dr. Woodlock and his amazing team of nurses and professionals, also the nurses and staff at Unity Hospital in the 4400 unit.
