Julie G. Schroder

Julie G. Schroder - Henrietta, NY - Rochester Cremation

Julie G. Schroder of Henrietta, New York passed away on April 22, 2020, after a prolonged battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ronald Schroder; five children, Dave Schroder, Elizabeth (Fred) Stumpf, Julia (Kevin) Frederes, Karen (Alex) Hammel, and Kevin (Kristen) Schroder; and nine grandchildren, John, Isa, Ella, and Ben Stumpf, Colin and Connor Frederes, Ambrose Hammel, Danyka Wambold, and Seth Schroder.

Julie was raised in Brightwaters, NY, the eldest of seven. Higher education brought her upstate to Nazareth College, where she would earn a nursing degree and begin her career as a public health nurse. Though she would eventually leave the workforce to raise her five children, she never lost her passion for the medical field or learning in general.

She was a woman of many interests, capable of countless pursuits – truths not lost by anyone she regularly supported or lent a hand.  Upon sending her final children off to college, Julie joined the Rush-Henrietta High School Counseling Center as an administrative assistant.  In her ten-year run with the Center she created and oversaw a high school newsletter and helped guide numerous students with their post high school plans.

An avid quilter, she quickly progressed to master the craft. Her joy in discovering a new pattern only outmatched by the jubilant spirit displayed when she gifted her latest creation.

To have known Julie was to have known a woman of unparalleled kindness, a humble nature that belied an indelible greatness. To know Julie was also to know all about John, Isa, Ella, Ben, Colin, Connor, Ambrose, Danyka, and Seth. She was, at her core, a proud Grandma.  Throughout her life, family and friends were paramount. Fortunately, Julie was blessed with a bounty of both. More fortunate still were those blessed to call her same. She will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at a date to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Lymphedema Network (www.lymphnet.org), Henrietta Quilt Club (c/o Janey Miller, 56 Chesapeake Landing, West Henrietta, NY 14586), or Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center (www.lifetimecare.org).

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Schroder. I always said hi to her when she worked for RH in the counseling center. She was very kind and caring. I am also her neighbor (a few houses down the road) and if she was walking I would say hi as well. I send my condolences to the entire family at this difficult time.

    Sincerely, Jen Hill

Julie was such an intelligent person. When you needed an answer, she was your woman. She fought this cancer with all she had. We had such fun times at the Pieters Center in the pool and in the land classes. I used to meet her for a quick lunch between classes and she’d use the time to knit socks for her grandchildren. She was a very proud Mom and Grandmother. It was an honor to know her and have her as my friend. Love you Julie. Patty & Dick Powers

Julie was my Nazareth College classmate and long time friend. I was always in awe of her intelligence and ability to research anything. She loved gadgets, especially those involved in quilting. When she got me interested in quilting we would go shopping and I’d look to her advice as to what to buy or what she thought I might need. She used everyone proficiently. Can’t say the same for me! She was the poster mother raising 5 children, including twins. Julie was a gift to all who knew her. She had such a giving nature and that Irish sense of humor. Her laughter was contagious. We shared laughter and tears over the years. Her battle with cancer was fought with dignity and humility. Julie challenged the medical community when appropriate and sought the best treatment center and plan. In the last few months she made several holiday dinners for her family. Not to mention Christmas cookies she made and gifted. She was a great gift giver and if the occasion arose you could be sure to get a gift. She will be so dearly missed. Julie was my inspiration and role model. I would often think “what would Julie do in a situation” and proceed to do so. May her spirit be with her family and guard, guide and protect them. They are a tribute to her and I know she was so proud of all of them. God’s Love and Light

I first met Julie when her daughter Beth began working at the Henrietta Public Library, and often saw and chatted with her in the following years. Later we both took a beginning quilting class together from the late Jane Decory. Our paths continued to cross over the years. Such a lovely woman, always warm, always quick to help, always with a smile.
Her spirit will remain with us.

Aunt Julie was an integral part of a wonderful family, and an aunt who always showered her nieces and nephews with love. While our family reunions were often large in number, Aunt Julie always made sure to sit with each of us to share in our lives. Her smile and kindness will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers continue for the whole family as we mourn the loss of our beloved aunt.

The number of people choosing cremation services has increased significantly in the past few years, yet cremation carries a long tradition and remains largely unchanged. Contrary to what some people believe, Cremation does not limit choices, but, in fact, increases one s options.
