Carol – my deepest condolences to you and your family from Jan Hickman.
I am lucky to have spent so much time with Marty over the years. He cared deeply about his family and also had countless friends in the community, due to – as I’ve told Wes – his ability to walk into a roomful of strangers and leave with a roomful of friends. I learned a lot from Marty about the importance of the common touch and going out of your way to be friendly to all kinds of people. Will always remember him as a radiant light in this often dark world!
Carol and family, my heart and prayers go out to you. Remember the good times!
Marty, you had the exceptional ability to look beyond appearances and surface distinctions, to recognize and acknowledge the innate goodness of others. There was not one speck of hatred, jealousy, or true bitterness in your soul, no matter what unfolded around you. As a kid, your simple kindness made an impression on me and was a source of mentorship-by-example. Thank you for the role you played in helping me to grow and learn in this world. You made a difference.
Carol and Family…….My sincere sympathies. I will always remember you and Marty dancing in church whenever the hymn was ‘Let it Be a Dance’ He loved yoiu dearly. I will miss him. Tom Williams
Carol…what can we say other than we will miss him! Love and prayers to you and Wes and Sherry. We had so many good time together! Of course the cottage dance episode will live on in infamy!!! :):) I’m pretty sure he’s still dancing in heaven.
Dear Carol,
We have so many fond memories of you and Marty. Your dancing at church and at the Park Ave festival, Marty winning the chili contest at church, Marty serving on the house committee and you on caring… So very many wonderful memories of such wonderful folks.
With our heartfelt sympathy.

My deepest condolences to Carol @ family. Caring, sharing & a helping hand was Marty’s signature as he strived to communicate with people at the deepest human level.
Those who knew Marty in his youth, and those who knew him a lifetime later – all remember his enthusiastic magnetism that drew others to him.
There was a kindness, simplicity and goodness of character that marked all the years I knew Marty.
Marty’s strength was best expressed through the remarkable quality of his relationship with people – his ability to make all human encounters, however brief, feel both special and personal
