Brockport, NY: February 20, 2021 at age 39 due to complications from Covid-19.
Matt is predeceased by his brother Stephen M Potter. He is survived by his loving wife Chara Lynn Potter, sons Steven and Trevor Potter, parents Richard and Patricia Patter, brother Philip (Mark) Butler, and sister Tina (Scott) Martin. Parents-in-law Christine and Donald Dubois, and sisters-in-law Devon (Phil) DeFranco and Hayley (Mike) Currier.
Matt was blessed with the best friends a guy could ever have, known as “The Fifth Family.” His “brothers” Nick Malara, Tom (Tracy) Supernault, Chuck (Sarah) Romano, and Jeremy (Jen) Stevenson and his “sisters” Kelly Malara, Melanie (Jerrod) Druzynski, Vicky Anselm, and Megan Baldasare.
If there is one thing to be said about Matt, it is that he was devoted to his family and friends. He was an enthusiastic Miami Dolphins fan, loved watching AEW wrestling, listening to 80’s rock music, and was crazy about superhero movies and memorabilia. He worked as a productivity specialist at ADT, and his ADT family loves him as well.
To honor Matt’s wishes, there is no funeral service at this time, and a celebration of his life will be announced for early this summer 2021.
Sending love from your (insert word) Neighbior! Miss ya buddy. Don’t have too much fun!
Now you’re the one upstairs having us listen to creaky showers. At least nobody ever fell through! Haha
Miss you Matt! You are an awesome brother and friend! I will miss your spontaneous laughs and jokes and hanging out with you but I will see you on the other side! I am so glad Chara had so many happy times with you! Love you!
My Dear Brother,
Words can not express our sorrow and pain. It’s impossible to wrap around my brain that you are truly gone. Your death truly proves that life is truly unfair and cruel. I believe that is why I’ve been so angry, because there was nothing we could do to stop that damn virus from taking you.
If love was enough you would be alive today. How I wish love would have been enough to save you.
You will always be my brother. I love you and I miss you. Keep an eye out on all of us and save us a seat by the fire pit. See you on the other side.
Kelly
This just made it real. Ugh. Idk…gonna miss your smile. Talking about wrestling, captain America, and of course the corner and euchre. Rest easy knowing we will take care of chara and your boys. Damn we’re gonna miss you.
My favorite Cubby Buddy in the world! May you Rest In Peace !! You are truly missed!
Matt I’ll miss you for as long as I’m alive. You made me laugh with your contagious laugh, you were a great dad and you were very kind. But my favorite thing you did is make my friend Chara happy and feel like the most loved girl in the world. I swear if I had a time machine I’d change this sad outcome anyway I could. I hate knowing that she is sad and doesn’t have you to hold her and tell her I love you. RIP you wonderful and amazing man.
Matt,
You always opened your home and your heart to everyone you met.
I remember watching wrestling with you and other friends gathered; I miss the laughter we all shared.
You were an inspiration and helped change my life for the best.
I miss you.
Dick, I’m so sorry for your lost. I did not know until I had just reloaded messager and saw your note. I had just the first of January 2021 lost one of my best friends and his wife to covid in a 2 week period. This disease is terrible. Even now we arn’t going out unless necessary. Again I am so sorry for this long delay and the lost of your son.
