Peter G. Morris

unnamed

Peter G. Morris, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home in Rochester. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Paul and Josephine Morris. “Pete the Painter” was the third of six children. He started playing baseball as soon as he was able to walk and was a Boston Red Sox fanatic. Pete graduated high school from Bishop Carney High school in 1978 and attended College at Saint Leo’s in Florida on a soccer scholarship. He was able to study abroad at the University of Valencia in Spain while obtaining his degree to teach Spanish. Contrary to his studies, he started a painting business in 1972 and painted until his last days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Josephine Morris. He is survived by his two dearly beloved children Lauren and Sean, His siblings Paul, Jack, Michael, Jane, and Richard as well as his two dogs Mighty Mojo and Big Papi.

He will always be remembered as a selfless, whole-hearted man who loved so many. Many will hold dear his quick-witted jokes, his passion for the Boston Red Sox, being the life of the party while knocking back Labatt Blue Light, screaming at his television about football on Sundays, listening to “The Boss” Bruce Springsteen on repeat (especially on long trips in the car) and making his home made recipe “Deep fried Pete fries”which of course had to be dipped in Rochester’s own Country Sweet sauce. Pete’s other favorite dishes included chicken wings, chili, spaghetti, and meatloaf. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 5th , 2018 at 10:30am, by Father McKenna at Sacred Heart Cathedral, located at 296 Flower City Park, Rochester, NY, 14615. Family will greet friends immediately following the service at Caverly’s Irish Pub located at 741 South Avenue.

In lieu of flowers please make a Donation to your favorite local watering hole and ask that you carry on his memory by telling legendary stories of “Pete the Painter”.
