Randy Ruscio, 62, of Port Crane, New York, joyously entered Heaven on February 17, 2018.
Randy was born in Amsterdam, New York on January 20, 1956. He graduated from Moravia High School and continued on to receive an Associate’s in Electrical Engineering Degree from Cayuga County Community College and a Bachelor’s of Information Technology Degree from the University of Phoenix.
Randy was married to Sheila (Freeman) Ruscio on July 22, 1978. They were high school sweethearts together for 44 years.
He worked as an engineer for 40 years at companies that included NCR Corporation, Savin Corp, International Computers Limited, GE Aerospace, Martin Marietta, Lockheed Martin, and the last 20 years at BAE Systems.
Randy put his trust in Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1981 and spent the rest of his life trying to point others to Him. After receiving news that he needed a liver transplant, he said, “God is in control and I leave my care in the hands of my Savior who died for me and who owns me. 1 Corinthians 6:20” And later when he was told he had incurable liver cancer, his response was “God is still on the throne.”
He enjoyed astronomy, watching sci-fi shows, bowling, making homemade pizza, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also actively involved in volunteering for many years at the East Side Learning Center after-school program and was a dedicated member and involved Deacon of Grace Baptist Church of Binghamton, NY.
Randy is survived by his wife, Sheila Ruscio; four children, Matt Ruscio, Lucas Ruscio and his wife Katie, Sarah (Ruscio) Belanger and her husband Ben, and Marc Ruscio and his wife Katie; his five grandchildren Jude, Amelia, Lily, Kaylee, and James Randal; his mother, Virginia (Giuliani) Ruscio; his three brothers, Michael and his wife Anne, William and his wife Helen, and Gary and his wife Terry; his sister, Lori and her husband Michael; and the rest of his relatives and friends.
Randy is preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Ruscio; his brother, Joseph Ruscio; as well as his granddaughter, Ashlyn R. Belanger.
Always hospitable, Randy desired to make people feel comfortable and welcome, which is reflected in his wishes to not have a traditional funeral service. An indoor picnic will be held in his memory at Grace Baptist Church, 35 Howard Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13904 on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:30am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Grace Baptist Church Deacons Fund at 35 Howard Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13904. The family of Randy Ruscio wishes to thank the University of Rochester Medical Center Hospice and Palliative Care Unit.
Sheila, we are so very sorry for your loss. We have wonderful memories of when we would get together with you and Randy to go out to dinners or at your house for games (especially dominos), and the time we met up on top of the area in Port Crane to view the stars through numerous telescopes. We hold these memories deep within our hearts.
Sheila – God bless and comfort you and your family at this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Praise God for the assurances that we have, knowing we will be reunited with our loved ones again in Paradise. Much love to you all –
Donna (Morgan) Woodruff

To the Family of Randy – I knew Randy from work at BAE Systems. Randy came and seen me at least 2 to 3 times a week to get different items for projects he was working on. Always had a smile and he had a look that was shining with Gods grace. May this time for Randys family be that of good memories because I believe that’s what Randy would have wanted. May God Speed- Sincerely Lenny

Mrs Shelia,
I am extremely sorry for your loss. I know my family and I only got to know you and your family briefly while at Grace before moving however, you ALL made a tremendous impact on us in such a short period. Mr. Randy was always so warm and kind to us and I still remember him blessing us generously on my birthday. Thank you for being the woman, wife and mother you are and for pointing us to Jesus like your husband still will continue to do. Praying for you all during this season and the ones ahead resting and knowing full well you will see one another again.
