Ronald E. Meyer

NATIONAL GUARD

Ronald Evan Meyer (51), son of Dorothy Ruth Dagenais of Churchville, New York, and Ernest Meyer, deceased, died on October 24, 2017, following a courageous struggle with cancer.

 Ron was a lifetime resident of the Rochester area. He is survived by his mother and by his brother Carl David Meyer and his sister Mary Ellen Grice, both of the Rochester area. He is also survived by his uncles, George (Butch) Dagenais and wife Judy of Oregon, David Dagenais of Delaware, and Richard McLaughlin and wife Cathy, and aunts Lee Ann McLaughlin Lee, and Jean Mclaughlin Bailey and her husband Richard, all of the Rochester area. He was predeceased by his aunts Anne and Elizabeth and his uncle Daniel.
Ron is a graduate of Greece Central High School and served in the National Guard at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, for basic training, and at Ft. Hood, Texas, for specialist training. Transferring to New York he served for a total of eight years.
He very much enjoyed being out-of-doors and spent much time hiking and camping. He developed extensive outdoorsman skills and knowledge and had a passion for passing on to others what he loved best. Ron also used his medical knowledge in helping others and he continued to study the field throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held on November 26, 2017, in a park setting so appropriate for his memory.

    Rest in Peace Ron. A soul called from our earth way too early. Your kind and compassionate personality will always be remembered, and vastly missed.
